Venturing forth with the Manchester MBA

24 hours on from the climax of the Manchester MBA’s Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC) school heat and I’m still numb with fatigue and disappointment. Our team came within a gnat’s leg hair of snatching the prize. First place was tied with another team so it went to a judges vote. We were pipped to the title on a split decision. Continue reading

Manchester MBA Not-For-Profit Project

A key part of the Manchester MBA’s first term is the not-for-profit project. At its core it basically involves five strangers bonding together in record time in order to complete a fully fledged consultancy project for a charity.

The full time MBA at Manchester has finally started in anger. The pre-MBA stage with its fun in the rain at Brathay and gentle warm ups in Accounting is no more. We’re now a week into the real thing. The Invasion Begins

They’re here.

The freshers.

Wide-eyed ingenues wandering around the university keen to pick up their free pizzas, pot plants and ‘Take me to your dealer’ posters. The dwindling remnants of their adolescent angst and sexual desperation wafting in their wake. They are in the big city now and are ready to let it rip.

They have, however, brought an infectious energy to the place. We are now no longer just studious, diligent MBA’s. We have the younger generation to nip at our heels and remind us that, despite our desire to learn and achieve, life is after all, about fun.
